- Contests -
The Contests in the Zephyr Region are actually more serious then most other regions. For every city, town, or village with a Gym there is a contest hall attached to it so there are 16 contests halls throughout the region however you only need to go to 8 of them. It doesn't matter if you just go to one side of the region or the other, or do a mixture of both as long as you go in the correct order. You need to win to go to the next hall however, much like the trainers with their gym battles for badges.
For coordinators, getting into these contests are free with no additional fees. They instead can put their money towards getting their Pokémon better at the appeals. However anyone that isn't a Coordinator does have to pay a fee if they want to join in, that grows with each contest and to get to the next hall you also have to win the previous one.
The rewards can be very lucrative, the rewards being larger for Coordinators then those who are not. However these contests are not easy at least in the later stages, where battles might even happen to show off the Pokémon's abilities and losing the battle doesn't mean you lose the entire contest as long as you give a better show. Anyone who wins get the base rewards, however Coordinators also get the grand prize as well. Reason why the rewards are so high is that they are competing with others so it isn't such an easy win.
You can keep challenging each hall again and again, but some prizes are only available the first time you win. Along with the fact it gets harder and harder for you to actually win, because they want to allow newcomers the option to win instead of having someone who won the entire contest gauntlet to come back to the first hall just to win all the time.
- How to -
Since this is a free form rp you might be wondering how the contests go, each hall is slightly different and the later tiers add things. Essentially you will be given a task, and whomever accomplishes it the best will win. Usually it is to perform on a stage in front of the judges, well your Pokémon, and depending on how tough or cute they want it to perform depends on what you can do and what moves that will help you better.
Later on, besides performing they might give you additional tasks like battling another performer to show off how good your Pokémon is in a battle situation. There also might be obstacle courses, or scenarios you have to act out with your Pokémon, yes you will eventually be roped into performing with your Pokémon.
In actuality ooc wise we take into account the quality of your roleplay and the quantity. If you just have a one liner compared to someone's three hundred you more then likely will not win. However some people with only 300 words could beat someone with a 1,000 words because the larger post doesn't really do anything. Other then that we take things as a case by case basis, even if you are just facing off against only npc and nobody else joined in the contest if you don't do as good as the minimum for that contest you will not win.
